Business Development 2.0
About Me
Since 1995, I have either run my own company, consulted other business owners and CEO’s on theirs, or invested time and resources in startups, etc.
I leverage B2B consultative sales strategies and emerging Internet based technologies to accomplish explosive growth. I rely on a thorough consultation process to help emerging companies solve sales and business development related problems. I did not pursue civil engineering as my profession upon receiving my degree from Colorado State University, but the education has become one my greatest tools for properly defining a problem and determining solutions as well as testing mechanisms.

Systems and Process Oriented
I graduated from civil engineering in 1992. Following is an excerpt from Wikipedia’s page on engineering:
Engineering is the discipline, art and profession of acquiring and applying technical, scientific, and mathematical knowledge to design and implement materials, structures, machines, devices, systems, and processes that safely realize a desired objective or invention.
Engineers use their knowledge of science, mathematics, and appropriate experience to find suitable solutions to a problem. Engineering is considered a branch of applied mathematics and science. Creating an appropriate mathematical model of a problem allows them to analyze it (sometimes definitively), and to test potential solutions.
In the same fashion that systems and processes can be developed to solve everyday problems in the ‘real world’ with professional engineers, systems and processes can also be developed with the same level of effectiveness and efficiency for sales and marketing for business.
I went into sales shortly after graduation and then started my own business three years after that. I now apply the structured thought discipline I gained from my education to design sales and marketing related systems and processes for companies that I believe can be helped.
A History of Business Success… and Failure
Following college, I worked in sales for several years for a variety of companies. In 1997, I started a web development company that ultimately failed following the collapse of the ‘Internet bubble’. I attribute the failure of that company to a lack of reliable sales systems – inbound leads, properly qualified sales people, etc. – and that experience instilled in me the drive to create and implement solutions for my own problems, as well as problems my clients have had.
Through years of my own entrepreneurial endeavors and working beside great business leaders I’ve met, I know that all business leaders desire the following attributes in every service provided to them:
- Simple
- Consistent
- Reliable
- Repeatable
- Duplicatable
